We enjoy articles that are fresh, informative and if we can learn something new even better. To help you get on the right paw experience possible, please check my guidelines for guest blogging…
Wag The Dog likes to add new original content at least 4 or 5 times a week. We also like to add our guest bloggers to the mix. Sometimes we will discuss with you if we think it might be better to delay your post. We always let our Guest Blogger’s know when we will publish and will send you a link when it goes live! All our posts are featured on our home page, shared through our social network and in its proper category.
A guest post can have a link to a personal website or blog promoting themselves or a charity event. Any others links to business sites, affiliate sites, products and services will come under our sponsored post guidelines and require a fee.
As a guest blogger I recommend that you wag around and…
Read a Few Posts: Check out the posts that I have written and successful posts my guest bloggers have submitted. We find our readers like unique stories especially about behavior, cooking, training and travel experiences with your dog. Personal stories are very popular.
Original Content Please: We already have Barking Social News that features syndicated stories that are on the interwebs.
Think of an Image: All of our posts must have at least one image, The opening image is 599×240. Make sure that your provided images are original or are properly licensed and credited.
The ideal length should be anywhere from 400-600 words. They tend to be the perfect web experience “read length”. However, if you have an important topic which is lengthy, I would suggest setting it up as two posts (part 1 and part 2), or break it up with either headers, points, or list style.
First of all, write what you know and have experienced and dog related. Our best articles are about pet-friendly travel, and if you just recently traveled somewhere with your pet, my readers would really love to know your experience about the place. What was it like? Where did you stay? Dog-friendly? They really enjoy paws on the ground reviews of places to bring their pet on their next adventure. We are also always looking out for excellent tips on caring for your pet, knowledge about home cooking, for example, why are supplements important? A super yummy treat? Know a great dog product?
Do not write”info-commercial” style blogs about your product, business or service. Do not even think of sending anything that has animal cruelty, political bias, rude, pornographic, profanity, or mean-spirited… You get the idea! …it just isn’t wagging cool. Wag The Dog UK is a happy-go-lucky traveling e-zine, with dog loving owners wanting the best for their pooch. We’re dog-centric, however, we will take a post or two relating to cats if it’s truly unique. Stories about birds, snakes, fish, turtles really do not fit, unless its dog related.
All our posts must be submitted with an image of 599×240, however, if you do not have one, Maggie is always happy to model. Videos and galleries: Please keep them in the middle of the post and write a basic description of what the video or gallery is about. Remember some people might be viewing your post at work, and not be able to play your video! Keep the video short, usually, under 3 minutes works, attention spans can be fleeting! If it is an information video that is longer, we can always discuss placing it in our Maggie’s favorite section of the site. * we also reserve the right to not accept any photo, or video and may edit its content. We’ll tell you first before going live.
We need your name, website and a bio about you, nothing epic, but it lets my readers know more about you. And when they know more … they will wag on over to your site!
We love giving the love and welcome a guest posts links to your personal page or blog. We allow the maximum two backlinks to your website or blog.
We do not accept links that have nothing to do about dogs and the peeps that love them, we also have a policy of not taking links for:
Buying/Selling Pets Online
Choke Collars
Have a product or service that you want to promote? You’re in the wrong spot, and need to head on over to our advertising page.
Yes I do! I submit all posts to: Wag The Dog UK’s – Subscribers via E-mail, Facebook Page, Twitter, Pinterest (thus the photo!), Google+, LinkedIN. I suggest that you should let your readers know too and get a howl on your new post.
Between my morning runs, writing for the site, working on my projects I can get pretty busy! So I can’t promise a blow-by-blow account on how your article is doing, however, if it is getting traction I do from time to time send a howl out to you to let you know.
Comments from my readers I will forward to you for comment so check your email. Responding is a really nice thing to do and it does a great job by connecting with new readers and bringing traffic to your site. If you can’t respond, I will.
I can’t accept posts with spelling or grammar errors. If a post has those, it means you didn’t spend too much time on it. (I know, I have a ton of grammar errors on Wag The Dog UK, but I’m a dog and it’s my blog, however, I am always trying to improve my grammar skills.)
Okay, I like the idea, and I have a story to tell! How do I contact you?
